Whether your home is traditional or modern, vertical blinds can fit right in. Ideal for a variety of window covering challenges, verticals are one of the most versitale window treatments available. Popular for wide windows and doors, verticals work well on large areas of glass such as sunrooms, picture windows and patio doors.

The beauty of vertical blinds is the ability to adjust vanes and control the amount of incoming light, as well as direction. Blinds may also be drawn completely open for totally unobstructed views and closed for light and privacy control. Vertical louvers come in a variety of opacities, ranging from perforated, allowing a filtered view of the outside to blackout PVC and fabrics.

The variety of vinyl available today makes PVC a popular choice. Most of us are used to seeing plain smooth vinyl, but the vinyl of today is available in many different styles, many of which look like fabrics yet have the low maintenance of vinyl. These are called embossed or textured. Most of the embossed vinyls are white on the streetside to insure a neutral appearance outside and satisfying most homeowner association requirements. For a little softer look, fabrics are a popular choice. Fabrics are available two ways: free hanging, which is the fabric by itself, and insert channel, where the fabric is inserted into a clear edge vinyl channel. This offers greater insulation and room darkening ability.

Another wonderful feature of vertical blinds is the ease of cleaning. Since the louvers hang vertically, dust does not collect on them as traditionally on a horizontal blind. And if you decide to purchase one of the many embossed PVC louvers, cleaning is as easy as a damp cloth and some household cleaner.

Energy Efficiency - another asset. When choosing your vertical, keep in mind the PVC louver or fabric louver with the PVC backing will block out more heat and cold. PVC vertical offers great insulation.
